Michelle Stansbury
Vice President of Innovation and Information Technology Applications at Houston Methodist
Michelle is Vice President of Innovation and Information Technology Applications at Houston Methodist. During her 29 years at Methodist, she has contributed to many major accomplishments for the health system, including the deployment of Epic in 2016 and the establishment of the Center for Innovation in 2018. Before joining Houston Methodist, Michelle held leadership roles at Compaq Computer Corporation and Amoco Oil. Her most recent passion is in Digital Health Innovation and has been part of the team leading innovation initiatives at Houston Methodist. Within her innovation role, Michelle has responsibilities for day-to-day management of the Innovation Department and has strategic responsibilities for Intelligent Automation and digital transformation of patient access and billing practices. Most recently, the innovation center has been focusing on using voice technologies to increase efficiencies and satisfaction for patients, physicians in the outpatient clinic and the Operating Room, and nurses. Michelle speaks regularly in conferences and panels on innovation, digital transformation and building innovative cultures. She was named as one of the 50 Most Powerful Women in Healthcare IT for 2019 – CIO and IT Executives by Health Data Management Magazine. She was also named as one of the 2020 and 2022 Women to Watch in Health IT by Becker’s Hospital Review. In 2021 she was nominated for the HIMSS Changemaker in Health Awards.
